Princess Poker Tournament 2008
January 31, 2008
Princess Cruises will host the first-ever Princess Players Championship aboard seven Princess cruises in 2008. Casino fans will have the opportunity to compete in a series of slot, blackjack and Texas Hold ‘em poker tournaments. More than $100,000 in cash prizes plus 18 free cruises will be awarded to winners during the events, which start in May and culminate in a grand finale event aboard Crown Princess in November. The six preliminary cruises will each host a slot, blackjack, and Texas Hold ‘em poker tournament. First-place winners in each slot and blackjack tournament receive a cash prize of $3,000 plus a complimentary cruise to participate in the grand finale event, with accommodations for two in a balcony stateroom aboard Crown Princess on Nov. 30. Slot and blackjack grand finale players will compete for a $10,000 grand prize, while the Texas Hold ‘em poker tournament offers the winner a chance to play at the 2009 World Series of Poker in Las Vegas — including travel expenses and free entry valued at more than $10,000.
The tournaments will be held on the following cruises. May 1-4, Caribbean Princess, roundtrip from Fort Lauderdale; May 7-10, Diamond Princess, Los Angeles to Vancouver; June 1-8, Star Princess, Alaska Inside Passage roundtrip from Seattle; July 10-19, Caribbean Princess, Eastern Caribbean roundtrip from New York; Sept. 15-18, Coral Princess, Vancouver to Los Angeles; and Oct. 5-12, Crown Princess, Eastern Caribbean roundtrip from Fort Lauderdale. The grand finale is the Nov. 30-Dec. 7 Eastern Caribbean cruise on Crown Princess roundtrip from Fort Lauderdale. To participate in the Princess Players Championship, passengers book any of the tournament sailings through a travel agent or Princess reservations and then register for the tournaments onboard. Entry fees of $100 ($200 for grand finale) for slot and blackjack tournaments or $150 ($300 for grand finale) for poker competitions are also payable on board.

IMPORTANT: CHANGE IN DOCUMENTATION & CHECK-IN REQUIREMENTS
FOR U.S. DEPARTURES
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security has recently announced new regulations which require cruise lines to provide final passenger manifests 60 minutes prior to departure from U.S. ports. To ensure compliance, passengers are required to provide complete and accurate passenger immigration details in advance of the embarkation date or risk being denied boarding. The easiest way to do this is to enter this information using the Cruise Personalizer at princess.com no later than six (6) days prior to sailing. Once complete, print the eTicket Boarding Pass and present it at cruise check-in. Passengers who fail to provide complete and accurate information prior to embarkation must complete check-in at least 90 minutes prior to the ship’s scheduled departure time or they will be denied boarding.
“Dinner: Impossible” Food Network’s MacGyver on the High Seas
January 15, 2008
SANTA CLARITA, Calif. (January 15, 2008) - In one of his first challenges for the third season of Food Network’s popular series “Dinner: Impossible,” Chef Robert Irvine accepted a “gastronomic dare” by Sapphire Princess’ culinary team, the results of which will be revealed Wednesday, January 16 at 10 pm ET/PT. Viewers can tune in to see if the noted chef was successful with his surprise challenge to cook for the 2,900 passengers who were aboard the ship during an Alaska cruise this past summer.
The “Dinner: Impossible” episode promises to be one of the show’s best, with many twists and turns - and even some tears. Aboard Sapphire Princess, Chef Irvine receives a culinary curveball from Princess’ food and beverage team headed by the line’s Master Corporate Chef Alfredo Marzi. In Ketchikan, Alaska, Chef Irvine receives his largest challenge - creating a buffet of hors d’oeuvres for a 2,900 passenger sailaway party that will take place in seven-and-a-half hours. Chef Irvine, assisted by the Sapphire Princess culinary team, must figure out a way to solve the challenge before time runs out.
“We are so thrilled our talented food and beverage team had the opportunity to welcome aboard ‘Dinner: Impossible,’ and showcase their culinary talents and the ship’s multi-faceted galley operations,” said Jan Swartz, Princess’ senior vice president. “Food Network is one of the most-watched cable networks, and we know from the response of our passengers aboard Sapphire Princess during the filming that they are huge fans of Chef Robert Irvine.”
“When I first started working as a chef, I spent a lot of time on cruise ships,” said Chef Irvine, “so I was excited about the challenge of revisiting the experience. Part of the success of the Princess culinary operation is the precision of their planning all the dining opportunities for passengers onboard. When I came onboard and started creating a party for the passengers from scratch, that’s where it got interesting….and nerve-wracking! This is a great episode and one I hope all our fans will watch.”
About “Dinner: Impossible”
If you could combine James Bond with MacGyver, you would get Robert Irvine, a real life chef extraordinaire and the host of “Dinner: Impossible.” Every Wednesday at 10 pm ET/PT, Robert is thrown a new culinary curveball and the team must figure out a way to solve their challenge before time runs out. From making dinner for 150 passengers aboard a luxury locomotive to recreating an authentic 18th century meal, will he succeed or will it truly be, “Dinner: Impossible”?

New Alaska Shore Excursions on 2008 Princess Cruises
January 11, 2008
Princess Cruises is introducing 37 new shore excursions available on its 2008 Alaska cruises for a total of 224. New tours include an opportunity to go behind the scenes on a commercial fishing vessel featured on TV’s “Deadliest Catch,” a zip-line tour for families, a walking tour with a Skagway “madam,” an opportunity to learn the art of glassblowing, and an Alaskan chef’s table. The new “Private Whale Watch & Custom Juneau Tour” includes the opportunity for a private whale encounter and to experience Juneau by land and sea in a group of up to 10 people. The day features a covered jet boat excursion and a shore tour with a personal guide who will customize visits to whichever Juneau attractions the group wishes. In Ketchikan, the “Alaskan Chef’s Table” features a five-course tasting menu with fresh Alaska seafood, served in a private club dining room overlooking the harbor.
The “Bear Creek Zip-Line Course” is an eco-adventure for families with kids age 5 and up. The course includes four dual cable zip-lines, a suspension bridge, a Tarzan-style rainforest swing and a speedy mountain slide. The “Bering Sea Crab Fisherman’s Tour” teaches participants about the life of Alaska’s commercial fisherman with and opportunity to sail aboard a vessel featured on the Discovery Channel program “Deadliest Catch.” The vessel has been modified with seating for passengers to observe skilled fishermen bring a variety of sea life to the surface for observation before releasing them back to the wild. In Skagway, the “Ghosts & Goodtime Girls Walking Tour” lets passengers step back in time and learn about the town’s rich history. One of the lavishly costumed madams of the Red Onion Saloon guides passengers through the streets and alleys of Skagway past gold rush-era buildings and the once-infamous red light district. The tour ends at the famed Red Onion Saloon, where participants will be able to explore the rooms of this former brothel, and maybe catch a glimpse of Lydia, the resident ghost.
New for 2008, the Tahitian Princess will sail on a 14-day Connoisseur itinerary featuring a number of calls not usually included on most Alaskan cruises, including Kodiak, Valdez and Seward, with a variety of new tour options in each. Together these new ports introduce more than 20 new excursion options, including, in Kodiak, the “Russian Heritage Tour” that explores the influence of Russia and the Alutiiq people. Highlights include a tour of cannery row, a visit to the Russian Orthodox Seminary (one of only three in the U.S.), and a Russian tea featuring borscht, Russian tea cakes and pirozhkis. All Alaska Adventures Ashore are currently available for pre-reservation. Passengers who are already booked on an Alaska cruise can reserve their tours by logging on the Cruise Personalizer on www.princess.com. The new excursions are offered as part of Princess’ 2008 Alaska season, featuring eight ships sailing on 136 departures. In addition to Tahitian Princess’ new itinerary, Princess offers Gulf of Alaska cruises and cruise-tours plus round-trip Inside Passage sailings from Seattle and San Francisco.
